About Jeff
After 25 years as an SBA Business Development Officer (BDO) with several regional Banks, I retired. But, my passion for assisting Small Business Entrepreneurs remains as strong as ever.
I founded Small Business First Financial LLC to advise and assist Borrowers, to successfully navigate the SBA minefield.
I provide two types of Advisory services:

Resides in Owings Mills, MD. Married, Father of 3, Grandfather of 5 babies/toddlers.

Graduate of the University of Maryland (1977) in accounting, attained CPA certification.

Co-Founded Ms. Desserts Inc. (1979), a wholesale bakery, distributor and retailer of American Gourmet Desserts and Prepared Foods. As President, had lead roles in Finance, Accounting, Sales & Marketing. Grew to $10MM in annual sales with over 150 employees, before selling Ms. Desserts to Weston Foods (Toronto, Canada) in 1989. Remained as President until 1992.

Changed careers to provide financing to small business owners. Started in equipment leasing. Eventually found a long-term career in SBA Lending as Business Development Officer (BDO) with GE Capital in 1999. Over the next 25 years, was employed as a SBA BDO by several regional Banks (SunTrust, 44 Business Capital and First National Bank of PA). Retired from Banking in August 2025.
